The Hill Country -

The Hill Country is in the center of Sri Lanka, is different to other parts, everything is lush green and much of the region is carpeted with beautiful colour of tea plantations.

Kandy, the capital of the hill country was the last kingdom which fell to the British in 1815. With the temple of the Tooth Relic in the center of the city with a man made lake, Kandy is a must see place for any visitor.

Further south of Kandy into the highlands lies Nuwara-Eliya, the hill station known as "little England" for Its climatic conditions, surrounded by the tallest mountains of Sri Lanka. One cannot miss the breath taking views and the beautiful waterfalls of Sri Lankas when driving through the highlands.
